Samantha is an army veteran turned bored mechanic at a failing junkyard until a UFO lands seeking repairs and a tycoon visits looking to buy the land, turning a boring job into a fairly interesting one. Don't know how you can be bored though, when you're best friend is an imaginary talking gorilla. Did I forget to mention that? Terry Moore is back in a story of intrigue and perseverance as Samantha fights off hired goons and her own PTSD. Moore has brought an amazing story that balances fiction with reality, even if you'll second guess yourself which is which half the time.
Green Valley - Story by Max Landis, Art by Guiseppe Camuncoli
The knights of Kelodia are the most skilled fighters in the land, able to take out an entire army with just the four of them. But when their home becomes destroyed and all is lost, they are approached by a young squire, wishing to ask for their aid in Green Valley trying to ward off a mysterious "wizard." Max Landis, writer behind Chronicle and American Ultra, brings us a medieval tale that feels more like present day with humor and action abound. Beautiful art along with a gripping story is something to behold when you read Green Valley.
Hadrian's Wall - Story by Kyle Higgins, Art by Rod Reis
Think if you will, that you are a detective addicted to pills, and you have to solve the murder a former colleague who shot you in the back, and you're ex-wife is there, AND and she had cheated on you with and married that former colleauge/murder victim. Also, all of this takes place in space, but you probably weren't interested in that part. Follow Simon as he tries to solve his most crucial case yet while also uncovering the plot to an even bigger situation. It's all set in space so how big can it get? VERY!
Plastic - Story by Doug Wagner, Art by Daniel Hillyard
Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Hannibal Lecter, these are a few people you wouldn't want to go on a date with. And evidently, Edwyn realized that so he found love elsewhere, in the form of a woman, but made of plastic. Virginia, as he calls it(her), is what makes Edwyn happy and his urges to kill at a minimum. But when a crooked billionaire kidnaps her, Edwyn is forced to kill again to get her back before anything happens to it(HER!).
Royal City - Story and Art by Jeff Lemire
An author struggling with writer's block and his marriage, his brother struggling to keep his job and alcoholism, his sister trying to tear down the factory that her husband works at, a mother who's stubborn and quick to cast the blame elsewhere, and a father who's in a coma after hearing the voice of his dead son. What's worse than the family's own issues, each of them sees and converses with a different iteration of Tommy, a sibling and son who drowned ten years before. Jeff Lemire is back pulling double duty with art and story in his new personal project about a small town family with big issues.
